Save the Children Sweden (SCS) has been working in the Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA) since 1963 and runs projects across the region.
In Lebanon, SCS has used rights-based approaches to increase access for children, adolescents and youth to quality education, and to strengthen child participation and protection on the levels of family, school and community. In order to ensure protection of children and youth from violence, physical and humiliating punishment and any other kind of exploitation, SCS is carrying out different projects.
Through Protection Programme, children who are vulnerable and suffering from neglect, exploitation, violence or abuse as well as in armed conflicts are enforced to acquire relevant skills and knowledge to protect themselves and act as agents of change in their communities.
Through Education Programme, children from disadvantaged groups have access to formal and non-formal quality protective education and have a greater knowledge and influence on school policies
For more information on the different programmes, read the Programme Summary for 2011.
