SCS aims to ensure that regional, national and local authorities and child rights CSOs ensure the respect, protection and fulfillment of the rights of children. This will be achieved through firstly focusing on changing policies and laws through the integration of relevant and appropriate recommendations from child rights CSOs and children, secondly, ensuring the meaningful and ethical participation of children throughout research and data collection activities, and lastly through strengthening the capacities of partners, networks, community leaders and CSOs to advocate for the rights of the child with also a particular focus on girl child’s rights. At the oPt level, there will be a focus on the CRC committee and the monitoring and reporting mechanism under resolution 1612.
Save the Children Sweden added value
SCS will contribute to the above changes by striving to:
(1) Strengthen the management and organisational capacities of partner organisations;
(2) Mainstream child-rights programming of partner organisations;
(3) Integrate child rights as a priority in the strategies of selected international, regional and national development actors working in the region (in particular, national human rights institutions, international, regional and national human rights NGOs working in the region);
(4) Strengthen the capacity of regional and national child rights networks to protect, advocate and promote child rights, and to
(5) Build SCS’s internal capacity and that of partners to collect reliable data and produce qualitative Child Rights Situation Analyses (CRSA).
Approaches
The TP will be rolled-out through a combination of SCS’s four working methods. The focus will mainly be on strengthening the capacities of partner organisations and other relevant stakeholders in advocacy, networking and research methods. Direct support will include support to children in the use of advocacy tools and in disseminating their opinions and recommendations about issues that concern them.
