It provides Save the Children alliance members and partners with a clear framework for the protection of children in emergencies by outlining a common definition and approach, programmatic priorities, useful programme examples, and the relevant legal framework and standards. The document also presents an extensive reference to guidelines, tools, and other material useful to practitioners and policy makers.
	Making Space for Children: Planning for post-disaster reconstruction with children and their families Save the Children Sweden and Save the Children UK, 2006 English This handbook grew out of a workshop with Save the Children staff, partners and community members in 2006. The objective was to give children and adults the chance to plan the changes they wanted to make in their settlement as it underwent reconstruction following the tsunami and for staff members to learn from the process. The handbook is an attempt to both document this process, and to make the principles behind it more widely available.
	Living Behind Barriers: Palestinian children speak out Save the Children Sweden and Save the Children UK, 2004 English This report was presented to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights to highlight how the violations of children’s rights in the occupied Palestinian territories continue to create barriers in achieving protection and development of children. The wall that has been built, child-detainees, education, and protection of children’s rights are some of the issues highlighted.
	Growing Up Under Curfew: Safeguarding the basic rights of Palestinian children Save the Children Sweden and Save the Children UK, 2003 English This report highlights children’s right to education, protection, health, life, and security at all times, including emergency situations and was shared with the United Nations Commission on Human Rights to reiterate the need of safeguarding Palestinian children’s rights in the occupied Palestinian territories. It also explores the situation of children living with disabilities and the challenges they face during emergencies.
