Child Rights Situation Analysis for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region

2011

To better respond to the needs of children, Save the Children Sweden develops Child Rights Situation Analyses on a periodic basis.  This regional CRSA has been developed by the MENA regional office to explore the violations of child rights that exist in the MENA region.  As this study is the result of a desk review, it sheds light on important issues, but leaves some gaps which could not be covered in a one-month desk review. However, it acts as a basis to further explore the child rights violations and fill in the gaps.

Practice Standards in Children's Participation

2005 - English - Arabic

Practice standards are statements that describe an expected level of performance. These practice standards state what children and others can expect of Save the Children’s practice in child participation.  They are designed to apply to all Save the Children’s child participation work and represent minimum expectations of the ways in which staff will behave and operate. These practice standards have been developed through years of experience supporting children’s participation at both the local and global levels.  This final set of standards is based on feedback and consultations with Save the Children staff, partner organisations and children in various countries and community settings.

This is a guide for using the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to promote the rights of children. Approximately 10% of the total population of children, the majority of whom live in developing countries, are born with a disability or become disabled during childhood. Save the Children has responded to the need for information by developing this guide to help children with disabilities and their advocates use the new Convention to claim their rights and begin to build inclusive societies that are equally respectful of all.
