International Youth Day falls annually on August 12th. The year commencing this International Youth Day (12 August 2010) has been proclaimed the International Year of Youth by the UN General Assembly, making it a particularly important year for youth worldwide. In honour of Palestine’s youth, this story focuses on how youth and children are making change as part of the Family Centres Project in the Gaza Strip. Children and youth are empowered to become involved and play leading roles in their communities through Local Management Committees (LMCs), which have been set up for each of the 20 Family Centres all over the Gaza Strip.
