Post-trauma Rehabilitation of Palestinian Ex-detainee Children: A Glimpse of Hope for Youth Liberated from Detention

The experience of detention throughout its various stages (from arrest to interrogation to trial to imprisonment) is extremely traumatic, particularly for children and youth who are separated from their families and peers, and whose academic and personal life is severely interrupted.

Save the Children strongly believes that every child should have hope and opportunity and that it is essential to provide Palestinian ex-detainee children with the tools and support needed to cope with such difficulties and to re-capture their place in society. As such Save the Children teamed up with YMCA-East Jerusalem a year ago, to implement the Post-trauma Rehabilitation Programme for Palestinian Ex-detainee Children with funds from European Commission for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO).
